I have long been fascinated by a a small thirteenth century painting SIX PERSIMMONS by a Zen Buddhist monk, Mu Chi. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Persimmons This interest has recently lead me to frame and hang my very large PERSIMMON paintings that were inspired by the Mu Chi painting. They were painted in a, perhaps, pseudo sumi (did I coin a phrase?) style with black paint on 24"x36" sheets of paper. Please notice my newly painted "amaryllis" colored wall!
Here is Mu Chi's painting. The original is more like this photo rather than the blueish green photo in the wikipedia article.
(I now have the sixth painting hanging) |
To further add to my obsession I painted the SIX PERSIMMON on an old denim jacket that my brother-in-law had given me.
Hope that you enjoyed looking at my latest projects. Here is a link to my Ebay actions. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1312.R1.TR0.TRC0.A0.H0.XRoy+mitchell&_nkw=roy+mitchell+paintings&_sacat=0 Thanks for looking.
Gorgeous, Roy! We have a persimmon painting on our wall done by an artist friend similarly inspired by the originals. Awesome on your newly painted walls! Thanks for sharing...Maureen
